The place
A short drive or bus ride up from central Funchal, this viewpoint (established 1950) in the Santo António parish gives one of the most complete panoramas of the city — the harbor, the cruise ships, hillsides stacked with quintas, and on a clear day the uninhabited Desertas Islands offshore. It doubles as a local park rather than a pure tourist stop, with a small kiosk-cafe and actual benches to sit on.

Sunset — the terrace faces the bay and city, and fills with locals as much as tourists
