Vereda da Fajã Grande
One of Calheta's walking routes, down to Fajã Grande

The place
The Vereda da Fajã Grande is one of Calheta's official walking routes. It is an out-and-back walk that starts and finishes at the Miradouro do Fio viewpoint and heads down towards Fajã Grande. The route is about 3 km in total, 1.5 km each way, and it is aimed at experienced hikers.
The ground is irregular and steep, and the round trip takes two to two and a half hours, so the walk fits comfortably into a half day. Take the descent at a steady pace and leave energy for the climb back up to the viewpoint.
