The place

Véu da Noiva means bridal veil, and the name fits when the falls are running — a thin curtain of water free-falling about 30 m off the clifftop directly into the sea, between Seixal and São Vicente. It's fed by rain, not a river, so it can thin to almost nothing in a dry August. A small parking area with a tourist stall sits right at the viewpoint.

When to come

After a few days of rain, ideally winter or spring, when the falls actually run — high summer often means a trickle or nothing at all.

Worth knowing

  • Waterfall volume depends entirely on recent rain — don't expect much in a dry spell
  • Small roadside parking area, shared with a souvenir stall
  • This stretch of ER101 has seen storm-related closures — check before the drive
  • Best viewed from the platform, not by scrambling down the cliff
