The place
Estreito de Câmara de Lobos is where espetada became a commercial dish around the 1950s, and Viola is one of the houses locals still point to first. Garlic-and-bay-marinated beef skewers hang over open charcoal in full view of the room and arrive at the table still smoking. It's loud, unpretentious, and exactly what an espetada house should be.
